This is a course ultimately about freedom, and I have wanted to run it for several years because I know how powerful and helpful darkness is in removing the blocks and obstacles each of us carry inside. More powerfully than any other tool I know of, darkness removes every last distraction from our awareness so that everything that occurs in that space is an upwelling from the deep recesses of our consciousness. This deep place holds the subtle structures of ego and fear, and when these feelings emerge we have the opportunity to heal them directly. I repeat, everything that comes into awareness in the darkness, arises from that deep place because there is nothing else to stimulate the action of consciousness but that which we hold inside.

Many other tools for healing and the purification of consciousness are helpful at the earlier stages of our spiritual journey. However, only the sacred darkness offers the tool to reach into those remotest corners of our consciousness, to allow the beliefs and emotions that tie us to our limited experience of life and ego to be exposed and to be healed. In virtually all other techniques and tools, the action of the senses tie us to our belief in the physical foundation for life. As we enter the darkness, however, we are virtually freed from the action of the senses, the unconscious beliefs tying us to physical limitation emerge, and they can be healed. Then true freedom can be achieved.

During this course we will spend considerable time in darkness and there will also be periods where we emerge to discuss our experiences and learn the best way to work with the emerging feelings and beliefs that will allow them to be finally healed.

The Sacred Heart of Darkness program is camping only, and you will be bringing the materials for your shelter set-up, which will be described in detail in the acceptance letter. All meals and camping fees are included in the cost.
